2010 In Review:
January: Kyle's birthday and snowmobiling at the cabin.
We sold Kyle's beloved truck, Big Red. This was his first car from after his mission and was the truck that Kyle proposed to me in (coincidentally the same night that I cracked a rib while off roading down the mountain were on!)
Our first nephew, Russell, was born giving Grant his only cousin.
March: A few days before Grant's first birthday, he pulled out his feeding tube and was able to drink enough milk to leave it out. We thought this would just be a trial period, but he surprised us all and we got rid of the feeding tube that doctors had told us Grant would have for several more YEARS!
Grant turned one. This was a huge milestone for us and was a celebration filled with reflection and gratitude.
April: Allison photographed her first wedding on a freezing cold Saturday. This was the first "real" photo op and paved the way for many more photo shoots during the coming months.
Kyle's maternal grandmother, Thelma Sharp, passed away after living in a home with alzheimer's. We were able to spend some time with his extended family at her funeral in Provo. Her husband, Jerold, preceded her in death in August, 2009.
May: Allison decided she was tired of feeling like a drab and exhausted mommy and chopped 12 inches off her hair to donate to Lock's of Love. This was the first time Kyle ever saw her with short hair and he gave 2 thumbs up!
June: Grant's heart looked pretty sketchy and required an immediate heart cath. We witnessed another miracle in his left pulmonary artery which looked significantly better during the surgery than in the pictures before. Allison gained a lot of gray hair that month.
We bought our first car together... a 2006 Toyota Highlander that we both LOVE!
July: Watched the amazing Idaho Falls fireworks as a family and discovered that we actually have a great view of the show from our backyard (a relief since we weren't about to take Grant to the huge crowd!)
August: Kyle and Allison celebrated their third anniversary. We took our first night every away from Grant and went to my family's cabin in Island Park. Kyle took me to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Playmill and we enjoyed a FULL night of sleep! We did miss this face though.
October: Kyle was selected for a new job, same company and position, but with a location at the in town facilities (these positions rarely become available). We found out a few weeks later that the company initiated a hiring freeze and the timing of Kyle's move was incredibly fortunate. Kyle now works a mile from home and leaves at 6:50am and is home at 4:30pm. Grant's relationship with Daddy improved immediately as he was able to see him in the morning, during lunch, and in the afternoon (as opposed to just the 40 minutes before bed when he was really grouchy which was the routine with Kyle's commute before). Allison just really loves having Kyle so close for emergencies and loves being able to spend so much more time together. We have been praying for the opportunity to move in town since Kyle first got this job and we really feel like this was a tremendous blessing for us this year.
We have also had a lot of on going projects this year. Just about every weekend, Kyle can be found working away at finishing our basement. He has most recently been finishing up the electrical wiring, setting the bathtub (after a several months long project to repair a broken pipe that was under our foundation), ducting work, and the final blocking so we can be ready for Sheetrock. We hope to use our tax return this year to get a little closer to finished!
We will remember this year as the year without sleep. Despite Grant's gains this year, we had very little success with him in the sleeping department. With two consecutive years in a row like this, I am beginning the year feeling worn down and really attempting to make this the year of the comeback. Both of us feel like our bodies have taken a big hit and we hope to both rest and have energy for physical activity this year.
Our biggest accomplishment this year has been avoiding any long hospital stays for illness. Grant has been remarkably healthy and we attribute this to our hyper vigilance in sanitizing, keeping him home, and staying healthy ourselves. Grant did spend the day today puking and fighting a stomach bug, but we hope that he is on the mend and that this will not be a trend for 2011!
In this coming year, I have set the goal to learn how to cook the perfect steak (mine are always either too raw initially or too well done) and learn how to use the external flash we got for our camera. Kyle wants to finish our basement and we both want to take control of our bodies again . We hope that Grant is resolving to sleep so that we can accomplish these goals. Thank you 2010. You were a good year for us and we hope that 2011 will bring new memories and fun!

Loved this. You look so cute on Halloween. I haven't seen that picture!
That is quite the year! You guys have accomplished so much! Hope next years goals happen and that all goes well! Good luck!
Wow, that is a pretty incredible year in review. And what a suh-weet car! Love you with short hair too. You guys all look so good! Love ya!
Missing September, November, and December in your review?
Nate, that is cause September was spent in a sleepless daze and November and December were just barely blogged. I was just hitting the highlights.
Looks like you had a great year! We were really hoping we'd get to come see you when we were in town this last weekend, but we can't seem to travel without someone ending up sick! Sydney got the flu this time, so even though we didn't get to see you we wish we could have and were thinking about you. :)
