Grandma Sharp's Funeral - April 28, 2010

Thelma Beth Durrant Sharp 1936 ~ 2010
Our loving mother, Thelma Beth Durrant Sharp, 74, of Provo, Utah passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 in Lehi, Utah. She was born March 3, 1936 in Logan, Utah to Mary Moses Durrant and Leon Alonzo Durrant. She was sealed for time and all eternity to Jerold Lon Sharp on June 17, 1955. Jerold preceded her in death on August 4, 2009. Thelma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thelma worked many years as a grocery clerk in Simi Valley, Ca before retiring to Provo. She loved her family and spent many hours playing outside with her children and grandchildren. Thelma was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed gardening and swimming.

The day before the funeral, Salt Lake City experienced hurricane strength wind gusts and all of that blew in a very cold and nasty day for a graveside service! It was raining, snowing, and very cold, but we all felt at peace as Grandma joined Grandpa on the other side after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Grandma was able to attend our wedding just before she went to live in a nursing home. I am glad now that she will be able to remember those important events that she participated in unaware over the last several years.

Her graveside overlooks all of Utah County and it will be a beautiful final resting place for her body.

Sorry for your loss. It looks like it was a beautiful service (minus the cold and wind)!

Funerals can be so emotionally draining when you are really attached to the deceased. I'm glad you have some good memories of her too at your wedding, and hope you are doing ok!!! I went to a funeral once where President HInckley laughed a LOT, and got everyone else to keep laughing for like 5 minutes. He put a lot into perspective for me about how wonderful it is for people to be able to take the next step in our spiritual journeys. After Catherine past away and I read the book "the Message" from Deseret Book, I was actually kind of jealous of my sister and where she got to be. Sending you a hug!
